Well done! Lake District Country Hotels raise over £4k for the Lake District Foundation

Windermere based hotel group, Lake District Country Hotels has raised a fantastic £4,444.66 for the Lake District Foundation.

The hotel group comprises of Cragwood, Merewood and Briery Wood. Joe Cobb, said, “we are very thankful to our guests for their generosity and delighted that they share our passion and desire in helping to keep our spectacular landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage intact”.

Sarah Smith, Operations Manager, Lake District Foundation added: “We are so grateful for the support of local businesses like Lake District Country Hotels that help to raise much-needed funds for local projects.”

The money will go towards supporting projects and programmes of work across the Lake District. One of the current projects is the reconnection of the Keswick to Threlkeld railway path, as some parts were severely damaged during the floods in 2015. Two of the old railway bridges that crossed the River Greta were washed away, one bridge was left at risk of collapse and around 200 metres of the path surface disappeared into the floodwaters.
