Supporting Local Businesses During the COVID19 Pandemic

Written by LDHA | Mar 18, 2020 2:40:00 PM

Government recommendations have asked for everyone to pause planned holidays, day trips, visiting family and friends as well as social gatherings in favour of self-isolating and social distancing.

Safety is of course paramount, which is why the Lake District Hotels and Attractions Association (LDHA) are putting measures in place to support independent businesses within the Lake District and Cumbria through these uncertain and challenging times.

Dedicated COVID-19 website

To do this, we have established new means of communication. This includes a dedicated LDHA COVID-19 website. Here, you will be able to find the latest information regarding the spread of COVID-19, government news, best practice examples, financial support, key contacts, and links to useful resources. This hub connects you to a closed LDHA LinkedIn Group where you can share ideas, discuss issues as they arise, and voice any concerns you may have.

Both hotels and attractions from LDHA are encouraged to use these resources in supporting their business and community.

Weekly Virtual Meetings

We are proposing to host a weekly virtual meeting for members to voice concerns, share their experiences or propose possible ideas. The details can be found here.

We will continue to be vocal on our LDHA social channels on news, community stories and job postings.

Real Lakes Marketing

Currently, we recommend pausing all promotional marketing as Government advice is to stop all unnecessary travel and social gathering. This includes the city vs. country campaign, photography and video competition and daily product/service promotions.

Instead, we ask members to share with our team any good stories. Are there other ways you are able to support your community during this lockdown and pandemic? Are you using extra food supplies to feed the elderly, providing accommodation for stranded guests or offering a takeaway service.

Our team will continue to monitor the situation, keeping you updated via the LDHA COVID-19 website, virtual meetings, the closed LinkedIn Group, and across our social channels.
